Just last week, we wrote a post about a man who’s life was completely changed — and who’s family’s life completely changed — as a result of some negligent care he received at a hospital. The hospital took far too long to treat the patient, making him wait in a waiting room for four hours as his serious medical condition progressed to dangerous levels. In that post, we talked about how medical professionals and medical institutions make mistakes like this all the time.
And it didn’t take another week for us to be reminded of this cold, hard fact. Now it is a woman — and her family — who have been dramatically affected due to a hospital’s lack of sincere effort when it comes to a patient and the patient’s condition.
The woman went to a hospital where she complained of an inability to urinate. She was dealing with atrial fibrillation in the past, and as a result, she was on blood thinners. Given this set of circumstances, the hospital should have been checking the woman’s coagulation times.
But the hospital did no such thing, according to a medical malpractice lawsuit that the woman and her family have since filed against the hospital. Instead, the hospital didn’t do much of anything, and as a result, the woman suffered injuries that led to the lawsuit that she filed.
The woman and her husband are suing on a number of grounds and they seek justice in the form of financial and non-financial compensation.
