3 women allege doctor errors in the deliveries of their children

The birth of a child is supposed to be one of the best days of Oregon parents’ lives. After a normal pregnancy, parents trust in doctors to help them through the delivery and expect to take home a healthy baby. Unfortunately, doctor errors can steal their joy and leave their children seriously, permanent or fatally injured.

Three out-of-state women recently filed a lawsuit against a particular doctor and hospital in their area. One woman’s child died and the two others have children who suffered permanent injuries and will require assistance the rest of their lives. One of the children walks on his toes, struggles to complete sentences and has potty training issues. The other requires a feeding tube and requires around-the-clock care.

All of the women were under the care of the same doctor and went to East Houston Regional Medical Center to give birth within the last four years. Prior to these instances, the Texas Medical Board disciplined the doctor for not providing three patients with the appropriate standard of care. As for the hospital, a statement was released denying the women’s allegations and saying that the legal process will reveal the truth. In the meantime, one woman mourns the loss of her child, and the other two continue to care for their disabled children.

Sadly, this is the dilemma for too many Oregon families. They, too, retain the right to file medical malpractice claims regarding the doctor errors that injured or killed their children. If the evidence establishes that the care their children received was subpar, they could receive an award of damages that could help with current and future financial needs. For those who lost their children to medical mistakes, an award of damages could provide them some closure and possibly help prevent another family from losing their child.
