Today, we look at the field of dentistry, and one dentist in particular who would probably make Freddie Kruger scared. The dentist isn’t from Oregon, nor does he even practice dentistry anymore — probably because of the allegations surrounding his practice — but this story is still relevant to anyone and everyone.
The pediatric dentist, Howard Schneider, allegedly attacked and choked kids when they were undergoing procedures, and he also allegedly pulled out teeth from his patients even though it was totally unnecessary. In one case, the dentist pulled seven teeth from a kid’s mouth even though only one was supposed to be pulled.
There are plenty of other allegations that deal with abuse and negligent practices, so much so that even if only half of the allegations are true, Schneider would go down as one of the most nightmarish dentists in history. His behavior seems psychotic, and something far more disturbing than just negligence or malpractice. This is purposefully hurting, maiming or disfiguring someone when the dentist is supposed to protect his or her patients.
It’s an astonishing story, and though it is very disturbing and though we can only hope that Schneider is held responsible for his behavior, there is still a lesson here.
Some of the stories in this case revolve around parents and children who didn’t know what to do with their allegations after Schneider committed his atrocities. When you suffer from medical negligence or harm, you need to consult with an attorney to ensure that your rights are being upheld and that you are being taken care of on the legal side of things.
