Hospital negligence, doctor errors cited in recent lawsuit

Oregon residents go to the hospital to receive adequate medical treatment from a knowledgeable and experienced medical professional. A diagnosis is expected to be timely, and the treatment is expected to be sufficient in relieving pain and symptoms associated with the problem. Unfortunately, this does not always happen. In fact, it is a failure to diagnose in a timely manner that has resulted in a physician and a hospital being named as defendants in a doctor and hospital negligence lawsuit.

Victims of medical malpractice need to seek legal help

Victims of medical malpractice, negligence and substandard health care are in a seemingly helpless and vulnerable place. They are ruined physically, as the medical mistake causes them pain. They are mentally and emotionally drained, as the whole incident causes them anguish. And they may think that they are saddled with medical debt even though they haven't even received the care that they deserved.

Don't forget about the statute of limitations

Let's say that you go to the doctor's office, and during the course of the visit you endure substandard care. As a result of this poor care, you are injured or you suffer a different medical condition that can be tied back to the doctor and his or her performance. Even though you are aware of the potential of negligence on the part of the doctor, you still take your time with the situation. You want to think it through before proceeding with any action.

Sick medical professionals pose threat to patients

A startling new report in JAMA Pediatrics shines a light on a dirty part of medicine that no one really wants to talk about: the fact that doctors are inherently around a lot of sick people, and that they, too, can become sick. That leads to many doctors, nurses and other medical personnel setting foot in medical facilities while they are not well, and it can compromise the care they give while also putting certain patients at risk of getting a sickness that could cause serious complications.

Woman dies after being sent home from hospital following seizure

You would think that after the thousands upon thousands of incidents that show medical professionals failing to do their job, things would at least start to change. You would think silly mistakes -- ones that seem to involve a lack of attention to detail -- would be cleaned up. And yet, time and again, we see the same horrifying mistakes being made by medical professionals, and these mistakes cost innocent patients their lives.
